Beena from Mirzapur 2, Renu from Pataal Lok, Pradhan Patni from Panchayat - Six female characters who deserve a spin-off of their own

OTT is a good place to be if we consider the huge acting talent pool that India has. Since it is not a star dominated platform yet, creativity thrives here. It has also given ample scope for female-centric content to get the right audience which is so uncommon when it comes to movies at the theatres. But we aren't talking about them here. We will be talking about those female characters from male-centric series who deserve a spin-off of their own. We have often spoken of these support characters in these shows that accentuate the content. Let's find out how.

 

1. Beena - Mirzapur 2
Women are heavily outnumbered by men in this testosterone-riddled show but even then Beena stands out. Rasika Dugal plays the character with such conviction that Beena's manipulative instincts are both Wow and Whoa! Such a strong character definitely deserves a spin-off. Perhaps what makes her the way she is today and narrates the whole story from her POV. What fun that would be!

2.Binodini - Bulbbul
There are so many layers to Binodini played by Paoli Dam in Bulbbul. She comes across as a mean woman jealous of her sister-in-law's position and beauty in the house. But she hides a lot of inner wars within her. What if those fights that she silently fights get a window to come out? It would add another dimension to this movie that wanted to a commentary on misogyny in rich families.

3.Punia - Betaal
Puniya is the main link in this zombie series and is the strongest character in it. In fact, it seems the writer and the director paid more attention to her graph than even the male lead. When such is the case how about a series on her. explaining everything she saw, heard and felt that can lead up to what happened in Betaal?  Manjiri Pupala can reprise her role as she was brilliant in it.

4.Shweta Basu Prasad - High
Shweta from High, played by Shweta Basu Prasad, is the only voice of reason in this series that deals with drug addiction and a cure-all med. She keeps it all together by applying her brains and so, a limited series on her would be a great value addition for this content. She could tell her side of the story and how she finally got persuaded in the trade.

5.Renu - Pataal Lok
We still remember the slap she inflicted on Hathi Ram when he does the same to her. She has been shown as a nagging wife to the cop and is often termed annoying by many. But it isn't easy to be the wife of an underdog cop. A lot is unknown about her back story. The whole Pataal Lok could be narrated from her POV, think about that!

6.Pradhan Patni - Panchayat
Neena Gupta in Panchayat deserved so much more screen time than she was offered. From whatever little we saw of her in the show, she was plenty funny. So a spin-off on just her elaborating on life after being Pradhan Patni and how nothing has changed even after winning the elections. It would be such an apt satirical comedy spin-off of the series.
