Dia Mirza who has been a part of the film industry for a long time recently spoke about older actors being cast opposite younger actresses.
Talking to a daily, Dia said that with the surge in women centric stories she hopes that female actors get to play the leading part even when they are older. She said that the truth is that stories are not written for the female older characters as much as the male ones. The actress said that it is even more unfortunate to see an older man playing younger parts.
Dia further said that the idea of beauty is always associated with youthfulness and feels that is the reason that there is a large interest in consuming younger faces. Dia further said that there are a lot of actresses in their middle ages who are struggling and aren’t being cast because no stories are being written for them.
Adding to it Dia said that the industry is male-dominated and that older men like to be cast opposite younger women to extend their own shelf life. She said that it is bizarre to see a 50-year-old man acting opposite a 19-year-old.
