Esha Gupta might be held up at shoot for the past many weeks but when she has her heart set on something, she makes a go for it. Shooting over 12 hours a day, she took out time amidst her hectic schedule to pledge her support to a cause close to her heart. The actress has been in Jaipur since last month and today she was spotted at Surman Sansthan in Jaipur. For the uninitiated, the orphanage (better known as Surman Home) has become a home for hundreds of orphans.
The NGO has been working to providing shelter and other necessary amenities for destitute abandoned children and women of the society for many years now. In a society that’s largely patriarchal, rural Rajasthan has often seen reports of girl children abandoned after birth. The NGO houses close to 85 kids, both boys and girls, who have either been abandoned or orphaned. The NGO has been working actively towards the cause of securing and nurturing destitute children.
The actress spent all afternoon with the children at the NGO’s Palna. She sat and discussed movies, Bollywood dance, and their education with them. She pledged her support to those running the NGO and went through the many on-ground challenges they face.
Esha has been invested in the cause of saving and empowering the girl child from the start of her career. In an effort to embolden women in all walks of life, the actress had previously invested in an all-women soccer team as well. Her continual work towards the field has helped many young girls and boys secure education and basic rights that were denied to them by virtue of their social background. As a voice of strength, Esha has always supported women's and children’s causes and is always looking to work with different welfare groups to help those in need.
Esha Gupta adds, “ it’s difficult to think why and how can someone abandon their own children, but seeing their big smiles and bright eyes made me realise it is a blessing for them. I am grateful that I could meet them and spend few moments with them. I feel blessed to be able to get happiness through them. I always have and will remain committed to helping women n children always, and Surman Sansthan has a special place in my heart”
Manan Chaturvedi, who runs the NGO, adds, “We are so overwhelmed that Esha Gupta came to visit us. Last year was a particularly trying year and we saw a greater number of children being brought to the NGO. Her support is important for us and with her presence, she charmed the little ones. I am grateful to her for her warmth and kindness.”
